We desire and strive not only for success on the rugby pitch, but as a team, and as individuals in all aspects and walks of life. Our belief is that rugby can uniquely enhance and strengthen character traits in individuals such as team work and sacrifice that will add value and success to their education, marriage, family and career.
Our Direction
United Rugby Club encourages and helps young students to pursue Post-secondary education. Scholarship money is provided for club members in need that are attending any type of post-secondary education. With an established relationship at Douglas College, players are also able to receive priority registration as a benefit of club membership.
United Rugby Club actively coaches rugby programs in our community. We believe that our members should give back to rugby. Therefore, we place coaches in most of the high-schools in the Tri-City and New Westminster area. We also have coaches in the Tri-City middle schools and finally our members help coach and develop our Mini-rugby program. This has meant that we are able to provide a rugby experience for players of almost any age. Moreover, our members also actively coach different sports throughout our community. We have members coaching youth soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, and martial arts.
United Rugby Club has a unique desire to serve in its community. We have active participants yearly in the Relay for Life, and are annual supporters of the BC Cancer Society. In addition to fundraisers for the local food bank, both men and women from United Rugby Club are actively volunteer with the Salvation Army in the feeing of hundreds of homeless in the downtown east side, each and every Tuesday and Sunday night.
United Rugby Club has many strengths, including its established and hard nosed rugby teams. All men's teams qualified for a playoff berth, while our women's Premier and 2nd Division both placed 2nd in provincial competition. However, we also provide community and friendship to anybody interested in being a member in our club.
