Registration Details

I want to start with my sincere apologies for the lateness of this registration notice.   The club executive has been hard at work for months trying to set up an on-line registration system but it has failed to come to fruition in time (or past time!).

Registration is now open.  You can register your child(ren) in any of these ways:

1.    Print the attachments (both), complete and return (drop off or mail) with a cheque payable to “United Rugby Club Mini Rugby Program” to 327 Blair Avenue, New Westminster BC V3L 4A1

3.    Come down to the clubhouse at 921 Sherwood St, Coquitlam (near Ikea) on Thursday December 15, 2011 8:30 – 10:00pm or Thursday January 5, 2011 (the bar will be open).  You can pay by debit at the bar ($1 fee), cash or cheque.

Volunteer - Please :)

I really really need your help, in whatever capacity you can offer. 

Most importantly we need someone as a manager at each age division: pre-k, K-1, Gr 2-3, Gr 4-5, Gr 6-7 (& 8 for girls.   We also need a few people with very basic first aid to step up as the ‘key’ people so we can be prepared for any emergency (thankfully very rare!). 

There are tons of other jobs like organizing fundraiser(s) & arranging home game days to submitting articles to our community liaison, serving food at games, collecting money, updating the facebook page, and many short tasks.

So please, add your option for volunteering to the United Registration form.

Fees

Fees are$100 per player in kindergarten to grade 7 (8 for girls) and just $70 for ages 3-4.  Last year’s returning players get a $10 discount each. This fee is all inclusive; there are no additional fees for any tournaments, like some sports!

Nervous child (or parent?) you can ‘Try-it’ first.  You can hold off payment until your child has played his/her first game (or attended 3 practices for ages 3-4).  However you must complete a registration form before your child starts their first practice.  All you need to do is make a note that you are doing a ‘Try-it’ when you submit the registration.

Kit (a.k.a. uniform)

Jerseys are the same as last year’s.   Again, you can borrow one for the season or purchase. 

If you want to purchase a jersey they are $65, and sample sizes are going to be available at the clubhouse Dec 15 and Jan 5.  We will order January 9 with no exception as they take 6 weeks.

If borrowing, to simplify matters this year we are asking for a post-dated cheque for $65 which we will return to you once the jersey is returned in wearable condition.

Shorts and socks are the same as last year.  If you want to purchase them they are $20 for shorts and $10 for socks, otherwise black shorts are requested.

We did not get the same deal on mouthguards (but am still looking).  Please be sure that you have a supply of a few in your child’s bag because they can’t be on the field for practice or game if they don’t.  Exception made for pre-schoolers but we prefer they get in the habit of wearing it.

Dates & Times

Practices will begin Sunday January 22 (unless the blizzards that were forcasted begin) at Centennial field next to Poirier Rec Centre / Library at 10:30am.  Updates will come later.

The games (for Kindergarten and up) are still being worked out amongst the teams, so please bear with us and I will update you as soon as possible.  However the current idea is that games will start mid-February.  Mid-week practices (for Kindergarten and up) will wait until March to begin.
