The United Women's 1st Division side was up against UBC for the Provincial 1st Division Championship.

Within the first 5 minutes of the game, UBC managed to break United's backline and score a try in the corner putting them up 5-0.  However, about 5 minutes later United managed to return their own try in the corner.  On the kick-off, United managed to retain the ball and with an intelligent kick by stand-off Stevi Schnoor were within 5 m of scoring again.  UBC wasn't going to let them have it easy and United continued to push, they did manage to score and Taylor Einhorn converted it to put United up 12-5.  The game continued to be back and forth with UBC using their speed to nearly break United's defence.  United tried to keep the ball in the forwards in the first half and repeatedly worked the ball forward albeit at a slow pace.  The half ended 12-5 in United's favour.

The 2nd half saw UBC's full-back in fine form.  She joined the line outside the wing and was able to beat tackles from multiple United players and score under the uprights (12-12).  UBC continued to press and their full-back looked leathal.  Eventually scoring another try moving them up 19-12.  United was able to answer with some great back plays and forward bumps off of the standoff.  However, the kick was from the side-lines and United was not able to convert, leaving UBC with a 2 point lead.  United kept up the pressure and was able to bump and crash another ball across the tryline, but once again giving Einhorn a difficult kick to convert (off the post and out).  (United 22-19 UBC).  On the next set of plays UBC's youth started to show and United found it very difficult to keep pace with them, making multiple errors and having to hold UBC at the tryline for over 5 minutes.  UBC did manage to convert their pressure into a try but did not make the convert.  United once again was able to answer with a brilliant set of back plays.  (United 27 UBC 24).  UBC continued to look threatening in their backs and their shifty full-back was once again able to run around multiple tackles and score under the uprights to move them ahead by 4.  With time running down (less than 5 minutes) UBC coughed up the ball on a punishing tackle and Stevi managed to retrieve and score under the uprights for the final points of the game.  United 34 UBC 31.

The game lived up to its billing as a championship final.

Good work ladies!
